I do however have a relative whose middle name was Spurgeon Brown and he went by the name of Spurgeon, and his mother was Mary Brown. I can provide more details if you are interested. Both Mary Brown, the mother, and son Spurgeon Brown lived in Wilkes County, NC in the late 1800s.
