Notes for JULIA ANN RICHARDSON: Minutes of the Fifth Session of the Union Baptist Association___1942 OBITUARIES OSBORNE Julia Ann Richardson Osborne, daughter of Noal and Delphia Richardson, was born June 17, 1856 and departed this life, July 18, 1942, making her stay on earth 86 years, 1 month and 1 day. She was married to Elder F. M. Osborne April 11, 1877. To this union were born 8 children. Two children preceded her in death. (Fields M. Osborne, April 14, 1898, and Lura E. Osborne, July 14, 1926.) Her husband also preceded her in death, March 10, 1926. The following children survive: J. R. and Lonnie Osborne, of Akron, Ohio; Mrs. J. E. Walker, Absher, NC; W. M. Osborne, Mrs W. M. Hamm and Mrs. Wiley Smith, of Laurel Springs, NC. Eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren and many friends to mourn their loss. She professed a living hope in Christ and joined the Pleasant Grove church in early life and was baptized by Elder E. Blevins. She remained in the Union Baptist faith until death. She was faithful to her church and served as Deacon for many, many years, With the passing of Aunt Julia, as most of us called her, the community lost a good neighbor, the church a faithful member and the home a dear loving mother. But we feel that as her life was ebbing away, the pearly gates of Heaven were swinging open to welcome a new soul. For it is written, "Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord." The memory of this good woman will ever be cherished by all who knew her, and her good deeds will live on in the hearts and minds of her loved ones. We can proclaim with the poet: There are stars that go out in the darkness, But whose silvery light shineth on There are roses whoses perfume still lingers When the blossoms are faded and gone. There are hearts full of life and of sweetness, When no longer the streams of life flow Still their goodness lives on with the living, Like the souls of the star and the rose. Aunt Julia had been afflicted for several years and everything was done for her that children and many neighbors and doctors could do, so she is gone but not forgotten. Funeral service was conducted at her home by Elder Monroe Dillard and Elder Wirt Walker in the presence of a large congregation. The body was laid to rest in the family cemetery under a mound of beautiful flowers. Written by request. Emerson Petty v. ELI RICHARDSON, b.
