My lineage is as follows. Patricia Ann McCoy (me) J. T. McCoy (my dad) William Thomas McCoy (my gdad) John McCoy ( ggranddad) Hiram Horace McCoy (gggrandad) John McCoy married Sarah Rose (she was from Wilkes County NC) but they married in Scott County, VA. This might be where the McCoys were during the 1850's. John named his son William Thomas after his brother William and nephew (son of William) Thomas. My grandfather William Thomas was born in Scott County, VA. Hiram Horace and his eldest child, William, fought for the union during the civil war.
