I forgot to mention that female lines will be more likely to turn up with Indian DNA than male lines. More European males married Indian women than Indian males married European women. If you were told your father's father was Indian it would be more likely that this grandfather was Indian through his mother's side rather than his father's side. Call it luck if you come up with a male line that turns up Indian and I have seen a few people get lucky!
