I am probably descended from the slaves owned by Jesse Hayes, since he owned my Great, Great Grandmother's brother, Jerry. Jerry, a slave was given to Jesse Hayes' son Joseph in the estate settlement in 1812 in wilkes co., n.c. My gg grandmother, Grace is not mentioned in the estate but she may have been given to Jesse's daughter Nancy and husband David Yates before Jesse Hayes died.???
