Wow...what a weekend for genealogy on this line... :) Now, my database has me stumped on several lines and you have mentioned two surnames that I am totally blocked on. My maiden name was Riddle and I do not know yet if my Riddle ancestors were related to the Tory, but my John Riddle (b. early 1800's) was living in Owen Co., KY and was married to Martha Cammack, dau. of Beverly Cammack. Do you have any info on that couple? Then the other is the Collins and the info you contain on the Melungeon line, but this is my husband's family, not mine. So you see when I read this email, it caught my eye greatly. I have worked on genealogy for over 25 years and have been stumped on it all this time. Also, speaking of Cherokee, my 3rd great grandmother was Margaret (Peggy) NELSON Lee, b. 1805. She was married to Jesse Lee of the VA Lee's. The picture I have of her is when she was very old. My mother and her family say she looks Indian but I have nothing to prove that. Since she was born in SC and marred Jesse when they lived in the Overton Co., TN area, I have nothing to prove one way or another. Jesse was thought to be the orphaned son of John and Mary Lee who came from Washington Co., VA of which he was born. So you see, in such close proximity to the NC area. I checked in Cherokee, NC on a trip and found some Nelsons who were Cherokee but nothing on a Margaret Nelson. Hope someone can relate to me on this one. Susie M.
