Hello, I'm trying to locate info on the Cox family of Caldwell and Wilkes Co. Matthew Cox Sr. died in Wilkes or Caldwell Co. in 1804. His son, Matthew Jr., daughter Delphia, and wife Lucy moved to what became the northern part of Caldwell Co.. Delphia Cox, d/o Matthew and Lucy Cox married William Roberts. They lived in Caldwell Co., and are buried at Union Baptist Ch. Matthew Cox Jr. also had land in Caldwell Co. on which he had a family cemetery. His parents Matthew Sr. and Lucy Cox, along with other family members were buried there. This land was later bought by the Hatley family. Later, some personal property of Matthew Cox Jr. including the Family Bible was acquired by a William Deal. An ancestor of William Deal named Donald E. Deal, wrote an article for the Caldwell Co. Heritage book vol. 1., referencing the above mentioned events. Matthew had other brothers named Mastin, Carter, Aris/Arys, Braxton, and Ambrose. Mastin and Aris moved to GA. around 1800. Braxton moved to TN. I would very much like to contact Mr. Donald Deal or any one else who may have knowledge of my Cox family or the family Bible. I'm related to this family through John Cox who was born in NC about 1780/90, I believe Wilkes or Caldwell Co. and who moved to the upstate of SC (Greenville Co.) around 1810. I am also trying to gather more information about the Cox & Johnson families.? My great grandfather was a son of Thomas Johnson (1839- abt 1900) & Martha Elizabeth Cox (1840-abt 1900).? I have been unable to pin down anything about?Tom Johnson's parents although my Great grandfather Andy is the picture of Aris Cox.? I am looking at Joel Cox (1824-1864) and Nancy Adkins (1825-1910) as the possible parents to my "Betty" Cox.? Joel and Nancy? also had a son Andy Harrison Cox (1846-?) and Braskey Thomas Cox (1894-1977) as well as several other children.? My great grandparents Tom and Betty named one of their sons Andrew H Johnson (1866-1929).?A Thomas T Johnson married a Martha Cox in Wilkes co?17 Aug 1865. ?I would appreciate any leads on these forks.? My Tom & Betty lived in Ashe Co and later Watauga Co just prior to their deaths.? I have no information on exact death dates or location.?
