I have been working with other researchers and there seem to be at least 2 sets of Martin in Wilkes. 2 different Benj's that dont seem to be related. If you search the Wilkes Rootsweb board there have been several Martin Wills posted but the one for Benj 1807 is "poor" and owns no slaves. There where the other set of Dr and Lawyer Martins affliated with Lenoir and Rosseau. Lenoir and Rosseau were officials and signed many documents even for people who werent kin. Now Benj Martin in the 1807 will, I have not found him connected to Lenoir and Rosseau or the names you mention of Gathier and Watkins. All the Martins were living in the area of Brushy Mountain so it is hard sorting out which Martins belong to which set. There were also Martin's in Burke and seem to be 2 different sets of Martin also. Are any of the Burke Martins and Wilkes Martins related , at this point I don't know --- Geneology York <[email protected]> wrote: > The information sent by the wills show connections > to the following Maryland > families...contact me directly for more information > and discussion: > [email protected] (Doris in vA) > > Here is one of the people mentioned in the Martin > will listed > below...Rouseau with Louis Douglas Watkins: > > Descendants of Joseph Rodgers > > 1 Joseph RODGERS b: 1720 > .. 2 Sarah (Polly) (RODGERS) ROGERS > ...... +Hillaire ROUSSEAU III d: Aft. 1807 in > Wilkes CO, NC witness to > Benj.
