Message Board looking for information on Fannie Sprinkle Holbrook. Fannie was the d/o Robert Sprinkle & Sarah Bauguess. Fannie was the informant on Tracy's great grandmother's death certificate when her great grandmother died in Oliver Springs, Morgan Co., TN in 1930. I think that Fannie Sprinkle Holbrook is the Fannie Holbrook on the 1930 census in Edwards Twp., Wilkes Co., NC. The Wilkes Co. Fannie was 43 at the time the census was taken, suggesting a birth of about 1887, which meshes with the year of birth Tracy has for Fannie. The 1900 census shows that Fannie was born Apr 1887 (of course the month and/or year on the 1900 census could be wrong, but the year is undoubtedly pretty close). The Wilkes Co. Fannie's husband was Oliver Holbrook. The World War I draft registration cards show that Oliver Holbrook was born 21 Aug 1890, Traphill, Wilkes Co., NC. He & Fannie are on the 1920 census, living in Edwards Twp., as in 1930. Fannie was 32 on the 1920 census, meshing ok with the birth year Tracy suggests. The SSDI shows that Oliver Holbrook died Sept 1965. I cannot find him in the NC Death Index. Did he die out of state? Or am I stupidly missing him in the index? The SSDI & the NC Death Index include a Fannie Holbrook who died 14 Mar 1986 in Wilkes Co.(SSDI showing a last residence of Traphill). But! Those records give a birth of 25 Oct 1897, making her a good 10 years younger than Fannie Sprinkle and of the Fannie on the 1920 & 1930 censuses. Could the SSDI & Death Index date of birth be incorrect? Or were there two Fannie Holbrook's living in Wilkes Co.? Curious, eh? Margaret (Note: If you are reading this message on the Wilkes Co.
