Mrs. Cockerham was born Aug. 17, 1920, in Wilkes County to Arlie and Flora Bauguess Brooks. Mrs. Cockerham was retired from Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital and was a member of West Elkin Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph W. Cockerham; two sisters, Iona Smith and Carrie Maness; and a brother, Ivy Brooks. Survivors include a daughter, Judy Dooley and husband Charles of Naperville, Ill.; a grandson, Jason Fulton of Lombard, Ill.; a great-grandson, Josh Fulton; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 21, at Hodges Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Macedonia Baptist Church. The family will receive friends form 6 to 8 Sunday evening, Jan. 20, at the funeral home in Elkin. Hodges Funeral Home in Elkin is serving the Cockerham family.
