He was born in about 1829 in NC. His mother may have been Susannah Adams, but I have no proof. He married Martha GENTLE (born 1835) who I believe may have been the daughter of Steven GENTLE of Maryland and Dolly ---?----. They had several children according to the 1870 census: Alace or Almeda, Henry, Pantha or Partha, Julia, Marcus L., Frank H., James Gordon, and Mary C. James Gordon ADAMS moved to China Grove, Rowan, NC and then to Mocksville, Davie, NC with his wife, Mary Zula TURNER.
