Hi, I am also related to the Hinchey/Hincher/Hinshaw family through Phoebe Ann Hincher who married James Linville Bumgarner - the common parents being William Hinshaw and Charlotte Carroll. It seems this name may originally have been Hinshaw, but it looks like all the male descendants ended up mostly using Hinchey or Hincher, probably due to literacy and/or dialect issues. Have you found any information to help determine William and Charlotte's ancestry? They were married in Orange County, NC. Anyway, I just thought I would chime in here since I have just been working on a few more census entries for all the kids of William and Charlotte.
