    3. Connie, I found this marriage in a compilation of Wilkes marriages: license date 10/17/1888 marriage date 10/20/1888 Henry Childress (27) to Elizabeth McRae (18) by E. Holler, baptist minister at Nancy Fowler's wit: J. J. Moore and E. S. Cook The 1880 census lists the Elizaeth M. McCrary (age 9) you've probably seen. She is the daughter of Asa McCrary (age 31) and his wife Ciely (age 36). [It doesn't look like "Asa" in this census, but it is very clear in 1870.] Asa was the son of William McCrary (born 1825) and Jane L. Caudill. I descend from William's sister Elizabeth McCrary (b1831) who married James Madison Bauguess (b1830). I didn't find anything that indicated your Elizabeth (b1870) was a daughter of Asa, but it's a good possibility. I didn't find any McRaes in the 1880 Wilkes census, and this Elizabeth McCrary was the only girl whose age and name allowed her to be a candidate. Hope this helps. Jason Duncan http://www.webjmd.com From: kizydanzer@aol.com Subject: [NCWILKES] Childress, Childers Researching information on my grandmother who was the daughter of Henry Childress and Elizabeth McCrary. On the 1900 census they are found living in Rock Creek, Wilkes Co, NC. She had one sister, Celia E. I believe Henry's father was Stephen Childress and Margaret who in 1860, lived in Hotell, Surry Co. I believe that Elizabeth's parent were William L and Ciely McCrary who are found in Rock Creek, Wilkes Co in 1880 census. Any information you may have will be appreciated. please e-mail at kizydanzer@aol.com Thank you Connie Seals Ballek --- [Pre-scanned for viruses by Internet America.]
