Hello list, I just found that my Cox family line may have come through and sent a few generations in Wilkes Co. It seems they moved down from Essex Co. VA around 1780 or so. I have Matthew Cox Jr., who died in Wilkes Co. in 1804. He was born about 1735 in VA. His father Matthew Sr. was born in VA in 1709. One of Matthew Jr. sons was Braxton Cox, 1781 to 1856. Matthew's wife was Lucy Dickerson, 1733 to 1812. This is not my direct line but I have proved connection to this line through DNA testing. I suspect my line is through a brother of either Matthew Sr. or his father William Cox of VA, who died in Essex Co in 1754.
