We belong to the Denny DNA Project and need a Wilkes County Denny to join and help piece together "our family", possibly decendants of James and Edmond, which are separate from the "Old Sam" Denney line of Surry county/Ohio, etc. Any Denny cousin, PLEASE consider joing this exciting project. We already have two perfect matches (43 markers DNA) with the family connection having to be back at least to 1790-1800 and really need a third. These two cousins did not know anything about the other family before the testing.

I called the Wilkes Co. library and they sent me copies but the page and volume information I gave them was incorrect. The pages I need copying will need to be found in the index, I'm not sure now which volume. The information I'm needing is for George Taylor and Unity Wyatt, their children, descendants, ancestors, etc. I suspect copying the Taylor section in the Wilkes Co. Heritage is what I'm needing. Any assistant will be very appreciated. I live about 200 miles from Wilkes Co. Thanks again. David

Supposedly, he traveled to NC with the Jacob Myers family. I think he was raised around the Ashe and Wilkes Co. area. He married Polly Anna Brown and moved to Menifee County KY where he later died in 1863. Anyone with information, please contact me. I am just beginning to search the Myers family and not real sure where to begin. Thanks!
Sandy I am not sure to whom you are writing re: Philip Davis. I have posted some queries back in 2002 looking for further information. What I have is Thomas Davis coming from Fauquier co VA to Wilkes co NC and then moving on to Greene co TN. one of his sons was James Davis who had an eldest son, PHILIP. According to family naming patters, this some how ties to the Philip in Wilkes co NC. please contact me on: phebem@comcast.net my Davis family ended up in the Chattanooga area, but I don't know what report you have referred. Surnames: Brown, Love, Turner Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/xUB.2ACE/4228 Message Board Post: I am trying to solve a mystery and wonder if someone out there might be able to help. My father-in-law was estranged from his father since very early childhood after his parents, Jessie Green Turner and Gertrude Jane Tackett divorced. After my mother-in-law died, I discovered a photo in her possessions on which she had written "Paul's grandmother." In another handwriting on the back of the unmailed, postcard-type photo of the woman were the words "Mary A. Brown, Spurgeon, North Carolina." I am attaching the photo in hopes that someone may recognize her and perhaps give me some information. My father-in-law had two grandmothers and a great grandmother named Mary. His paternal grandmother was Mary Ann or Jayne Love, the daughter of Noah Love and Dicy Love who died prior to her marriage to William Marshall Turner in January of 1890 in Ashe County, NC. This information came from their marriage license. She was born in North Carolina around 1869 or 1870. On death certificates of some of her children, her name is listed as Mary Ann Love. Mary A. Turner is listed with William M. Turner through the 1910 census in Mercer County, West Virginia. In 1920, William is listed with the children and a much younger wife also named Mary who was born in West Virginia. I assumed that Mary Love Turner died, but perhaps she and William divorced and she remarried. His maternal grandmother was Mary S. Beverly Tackett, born in Virginia and, to my knowledge, never lived in North Carolina or had any connections to a Brown. The paternal great grandmother was Mary Roark Turner, born in 1846 in Ashe County, NC, and died in 1910. She was married to James Sanford Turner also from Ashe County, NC. I don't see any reason why her name ever would have been Brown. If anyone can help, I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you.

I am pretty sure my husbands family is in your tree. My father-in-law has a cousin, Lynn Davis of Chattanooga that provided me with a typed family history report on Thomas Davis, that was compiled by a Bill Davis of Kingston, GA quite some time ago. I recognized your post as having excerpts from the report she sent me that included Phillip Davis, Sr. So I am hoping you can help me. If you have the original, I would love to have better copies of some of the photos, land records, letters, POW records that were included, but aren't legible anymore from repeated copying. Of course I would pay for any mailing or copying fees! Our tree is: Phillip Davis Sr. Phillip Davis (Jr.) m. Elizabeth Ferguson in 1791 Thomas B. Davis m. Sary Mize in 1817 James Davis m. Sarah Simmerly Jacob T. Davis m. Provy (Providence) Ann Henry in 1872 Luin Elmer Davis m. Amy Elizabeth Justice Freytag in 1913 And then my father-in-law. Sandy Davis
