    1. RE: Francis Erwin and Ann Mullins
    2. Jason Duncan
    3. I descend from Thomas Irwin (1770-1853) mentioned in your post. I have him listed with a brother Francis Jr (c1780) and a sister Mary. They were children of Francis Irwin Sr (c1740s-1790s) and his wife Ann. The Irwin family came to Wilkes Co from Spotsylvania Co, VA, in the early 1780s. As you said, I also have Francis Irwin Jr marrying Ann Mullins on 7/10/1803 in Wilkes Co. The next record of him is in the 1850 Pettis Co, Missouri, census in District 68, household #134/134: Francis Ervin, 70, farmer, $1200, born VA Ann, 66, born NC Granville, 34, farmer, born KY Florinday (female), 25, born MO Emily F., 6, born MO Ann E., 4, born MO Sarah E., 2, born MO Also, living next door to them was apparently another son Larkin Ervin (age 42, born KY) who was living with 11 other Ervins ranging in age from 31 years to 10 months. The five people age 16 and over were born in KY. The seven people age 14 and younger were born in MO. It looks like Francis and Ann were married in 1803, and were living in KY by 1808 (when son Larkin was born). They may have lived there until about 1835 when they moved on into Missouri. Here is the 1860 Pettis Co, MO, census, Bowling Green Twp, p12, #75/75: Granville Erwin (44, farmer); $3460/$1500, born KY Florinda (36, MO) Emily F. (16, MO) Ann Eliza (14, MO) Sarah E. (13, MO) Margaret Jane (9, MO) Robert (7, MO) Rachel (5, MO) Thomas (2, MO) infant (1/12 MO) Francis (79, superanuated, VA) Elizabeth Steele (70, superanuated, VA) Lotte Ann (60, black, born SC) I had to look up "superanuated", but it looks like it means retired. Apparently his wife Ann Mullins had died during the 1850s. Also, in checking the 1870 census, I didn't find Francis so he may have died during the 1860s. The names in these censuses are very similar to those of the Irwins who stayed in Wilkes and Ashe Co, NC. Searching the censuses on ancestry.com there are a few Francis Ervin (etc) names that appear between 1810 and 1840, but it's hard to tell if they refer to the same person. Hope this helps! Jason Duncan http://www.webjmd.com -----Original Message----- From: jhpizarro@comcast.net [mailto:jhpizarro@comcast.net] Sent: Tuesday, July 18, 2006 3:19 PM Message Board Post: on 10 July 1803, Francis Ervin married Ann Mullins in Wilkes County NC. The Bondsman was Thomas Ervin. I believe these two men were really Francis ERWIN and Thomas ERWIN. Does anyone have any information on them and their parents or siblings? I am trying to prove or disprove that Francis ERWIN is my ancestor who is later found in Roane County Tennessee. --- [Pre-scanned for viruses by Internet America.]

    1. Conrad Eller "Coonrod"
    2. Wilma Jean Reynolds
    3. I have some information on Conrad Eller, of Rowan and Wilkes. Would love to hear from others researching Conrad Eller of Wilkes Co. Some reseachers have him confused with the Conrad Eller, who resided in Rowan Co. all of his life. The Conrad that came to Wilkes was older than the one who remained in Rowan. Conrad Eller, of Wilkes, is on the 1810, Rowan Co. NC census, he is age 26-45, 2 females under 10, and 1 female 26-45. 1820 census Rowan Co. NC He has 1 male under 10, 1 male 26-45, 1 male 45 up. 3 females under 10, 1female 16-26, 1 female 26-45. The female 16-26 is Susan Sophie Eller, she married Charles Bullen (Bolin, Boldin), in Rowan Co. NC, in 1826. They and Conrad moved to Grayson Co. VA, and can be found there on 1828 tax list. By 1830 they were in Wilkes Co. NC. 1830 Wilkes Co. Census, Conrod has 2 males under 5, 1 male 5-10, and he is age 50-60. 1 female under 5, 1 female 5-10, 2 females 10-15 and 1 female 40-50. 1840 census Wilkes Co. NC Conrad has 1 male 5-10, 1 male 10-15, 1 male 15-20 and he is 60-70. 2 females under 5, 1 female 5-10, 1 female 15-20 and 1 female 20-30. The other Conrad Eller that remained in Rowan Co. Shows up on the 1830 census with 1 male under 5, 1 male 5-10, and he is 30-40. 2 females under 5, and 1 female 30-40. 1840 Rowan Co.Conrad Eller is age 40-50, 1 male under 5, 1 male 5-10. 1 male 10-15. 2 females 10-15, 2 females 15-20, and 1 female 40-50. This shows ther are 2 Conrad Ellers. The Jacob Eller Book, has them as one person. This is wrong. Ther were two. Jean Reynolds

From what I know...Adeline escaped the Trail of Tears by going up into W VA mountains with her grandfather. I'm not sure which grandfather- Robert Arms or Edward B. Sizemore. FYI- Adeline and husband Numa Walker (b.1829) lived mostly around the Beckley and Egeria W. Va. areas. Adeline is buried in the Keaton Mills Cemetary (for sure) in or near Beckley, West Virginia. I hope this helps. I'm new to this family research stuff but I hope this helps. Maybe Robert ended up in West Virginia as well.

    2. Linda: Do you have this information: The value of the lands of Amos Sr. at his death between $1000.00 to $2000.00. Amos Jr paid Rebecca $40.00 for her widow's share of the 150 acre homeplace, and he paid $60.00 for Amy's share in 1858 and again $75.00 to the widow. It was also stated that another son of Amos Sr., Elijah and his wife Ann Blanton, lived on a portion of the property on the north side of the Yadkin River above Fish Dam Creek. A deed of 5 Mar 1834 indicates that Amos Sr. had purchased an additional 100 acre tract from Conrad Eller. This land was on the south side of the Yadkin. Since Amos Jr. had also died by the time of the 1881 suit, two of his sons, Thomas J. and Joel L., were subpoened to testify in Amy's behalf.

An article that I found in the Eller Chronicles at the Wilkes Library, states Coonrod Eller, son of John Melchoir/Melker Eller (son of Casper Eller), may have been born abt. 1775. Pension application suggests he was born ca 1790. He died ca1845, in Wilkes Co., NC. He is said to be buried on his farm, located in Moravian Falls, Wilkes Co., NC. According to this researcher, he was married at least two or three times and had several sons. Among them were, Alexander "Alec/Alex", Levi and Hugh Montgomery "Mont". This article compiled by Andy Johnson, isn't found on the Eller Chronicles website, you will have to go to the Wilkes Library and look in the books if you want to read it in full. It is located in Vol XI November 1997 issue. Also, another article in the Eller Chronicles about this line of Eller's is located in Vol XII-1 February 1998. It is compiled by Marjorie Godfrey, another descendant. Good Luck!
