Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/xUB.2ACE/4314 Message Board Post: of Moses or Zachariah Adams for DNA testing. Just as an aside, it would be nice if all Adams males who can tract their line back to Wilkes Co would test.

    3. No, I don't know of a Joines DNA project, although it would clarify a lot of mysteries about relationships if there were one. The test would still show a common ancestry among any Joineses who were related, even if various intermarried with other genetic lines like the Caudills, wouldn't it? > ---------- > From: ncwilkes-bounces@rootsweb.com on behalf of Lenny F. 3. Lenny, Many thanks for the index for the Caudill, Joines Cemetery. (also known as the Truitt Cemetery) I have a couple of observations to add to the listings. Re; 13834, Callie Woodruff Joines was J. H. Joines 2nd wife. the twins died at birth. Re; 13835, Ethyl Joines was the daughter of J H and Carrie Joines (as correctly shown in 9203) Ethyl was my Mother's, Ruth Joines Morrah, younger sister. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Nanalee Wrenn" <nwrenn37@yadtel.net> To: <ncwilkes@rootsweb.com> Sent: Saturday, November 04, 2006 11:43 PM Subject: Re: [NCWILKES] Index to Caudill Joines Cemetery > > > Thank You Lenny!!! 3. Hi Sharon.... The best guess is that this William father of Jeremiah Caudill was a son of James Sr as his birth was probably 1754 to 1757 which would place him with James Sr this is the concenus of opinion between Sam Sebastion, Clayton Cox and myself. I t was enough to have Clayton Cox include the family of Jeremiah in his Caudill books. Jim Ovendorf -------Original Message------- From: Sharon Goetz Date: 11/05/06 11:04:22 To: ncwilkes@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [NCWILKES] Index to Caudill Joines Cemetery Lenny & Nanalee I am sorry but I get so confused. My info on Caudills shows that Jeremiah Caudill was the son of William Caudill and his wife Elizabeth Pruitt. This William Caudill would have been a brother to James Caudill, Sr. and their father would have been Stephen Caudill who died in Lunenburg, VA. Can either of you verify this information for me. Thank you so much, Sharon Goetz descendant of Jesse P. Caudill. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Nanalee Wrenn" <nwrenn37@yadtel.net> To: <ncwilkes@rootsweb.com> Sent: Saturday, November 04, 2006 11:43 PM Subject: Re: [NCWILKES] Index to Caudill Joines Cemetery > > > Thank You Lenny!!! 3. Lenny & Nanalee I am sorry but I get so confused. Notes for JULIA ANN RICHARDSON: Minutes of the Fifth Session of the Union Baptist Association___1942 OBITUARIES OSBORNE Julia Ann Richardson Osborne, daughter of Noal and Delphia Richardson, was born June 17, 1856 and departed this life, July 18, 1942, making her stay on earth 86 years, 1 month and 1 day. She was married to Elder F. M. Osborne April 11, 1877. To this union were born 8 children. Two children preceded her in death. (Fields M. Osborne, April 14, 1898, and Lura E. Osborne, July 14, 1926.) Her husband also preceded her in death, March 10, 1926. The following children survive: J. R. and Lonnie Osborne, of Akron, Ohio; Mrs. J. E. Walker, Absher, NC; W. M. Osborne, Mrs W. M. Hamm and Mrs. Wiley Smith, of Laurel Springs, NC. Eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren and many friends to mourn their loss. She professed a living hope in Christ and joined the Pleasant Grove church in early life and was baptized by Elder E. Blevins. She remained in the Union Baptist faith until death. She was faithful to her church and served as Deacon for many, many years, With the passing of Aunt Julia, as most of us called her, the community lost a good neighbor, the church a faithful member and the home a dear loving mother. But we feel that as her life was ebbing away, the pearly gates of Heaven were swinging open to welcome a new soul. For it is written, "Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord." The memory of this good woman will ever be cherished by all who knew her, and her good deeds will live on in the hearts and minds of her loved ones. We can proclaim with the poet: There are stars that go out in the darkness, But whose silvery light shineth on There are roses whoses perfume still lingers When the blossoms are faded and gone. There are hearts full of life and of sweetness, When no longer the streams of life flow Still their goodness lives on with the living, Like the souls of the star and the rose. Aunt Julia had been afflicted for several years and everything was done for her that children and many neighbors and doctors could do, so she is gone but not forgotten. Funeral service was conducted at her home by Elder Monroe Dillard and Elder Wirt Walker in the presence of a large congregation. The body was laid to rest in the family cemetery under a mound of beautiful flowers. Written by request. Emerson Petty v. ELI RICHARDSON, b. 3. I'm a descendant of Jeremiah. He's my 4th great grandfather. The Caudill DNA Project is a YDNA project which means that we're tracing the male line. The Joines YDNA and Caudill YDNA is unique even though the families are intermarried many times. There isn't a Joines DNA project listed at FamilyTreeDNA.com. Are you aware of a Joines Project? ----- Original Message ----- From: "Newman, Joyce Joines" <NEWMANJ@ecu.edu> To: <ncwilkes@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, October 18, 2006 9:26 AM Subject: Re: [NCWILKES] Joines Cemetery, Wilkes County, NC > Lenny, > > Are you also a descendant of Ezekiel Joines's son Thomas who married Mary > Caudill or of Jeremiah Caudill and Sara Jane Adams's daughter Pheroby who > married Ezekiel Joines, son of Thomas or of any other Joines? > > If so, it would be great to see someone compare the Caudill DNA and Joines > DNA from various families in VA, MD, GA, NC, KY, TX, etc. > > Joyce > > Joyce Joines Newman > Fountain, NC > > >> ---------- >> From: ncwilkes-bounces@rootsweb.com on behalf of Lenny F. 3. Hi, all, Some time ago, I wrote to the Harris list that I was suspecting that PERHAPS our Silas Harris [b. 1775, VA; d. aft. 1850, Surry Co., NC] might NOT have been the son of William Harris [b. 1752, Culpeper, VA; d. 1848, Wilkes Co., NC], but might rather have been the son of Dabney Harris [who was the eldest son of Christopher Harris, who died 1794 in Madison Co., KY, and the grandson of Robert Harris, the Louisa Co., VA surveyor---from the "rich end" of this particular Harris family.] [The DNA of our William Harris matches to that of the Robert Harris of Ware Creek line of Hanover Co., VA, so it is easy to get confused---this line is not yet clearly-documented through most of its branches, for sure...] Recently-discovered information concerning the placement of this PARTICULAR William Harris have revealed a movement pattern that much more strongly suggests that our Silas WAS indeed the son of William & Sarah [who were only in that portion of Surry County that later became Stokes for a year {or part of it}---1786. This brief period places William Harris in the same area as the FRANKLIN & LEWIS families that William's eldest son, Silas later married into. They were neighbors when our Silas Harris was only eleven.] By July of 1787, our William & Sarah were in Wilkes Co., and remained there until about 1797, when they moved to Ashe Co. and patented some land there. William & Sarah returned again to Wilkes Co. about 1813, having never sold their, and patented more land adjacent the old Harris tract. Sarah Harris died before 1830, and our William died there in 1848.] The major question we are trying to understand, at this point, is exactly WHY they moved to Ashe Co.? [Clearly this was a movement that seems to us to have been motivated by some unidentified family ties?] Otherwise, why would our William & Sarah move to a place almost at the Tennessee state line, when they clearly held on to their Wilkes land, and intended to move back to it during their old age? I am absolutely convinced now that our William Harris and Sarah [unknown] Harris of Culpeper, VA & Surry/Wilkes/Ashe/Wilkes Cos., NC was the father of our Silas Harris of Surry Co.
