    3. Does anyone have any information about the names of soldiers who were wounded or died during war in NC? I am researching William Gambrel who died in 1779 from "War Wounds". Thanks for any help. Muriel

T. McCoy. My grandfather was William Thomas McCoy. My great grandfather was John McCoy. My great great grandfather was Hiram Horace McCoy. I was born in Tyler, Texas. It seems William Thomas and Talitha Rebecca Lane McCoy bought 166 acres not far from Tyler, Texas. It is still in the original tract today. Your William would have been my John's eldest brother. It is nice to make your acquaintance. I sure would like to know more about your branch of our McCoy's. It would be great if I could visit the original home place and the gravesites of my McCoys. My grandfather was William McCoy and his daughter, Nancy America my mother. Aunt Hattie was sent to Texas in the early 1900 to help the John McCoy out when sickness occurred. She married Charlie Carpenter while there, had two children, then divorced and she returned to the William McCoy homeplace in Ashe Co. N.C. I go there frequently and have some acreage owned by the family. Hiram and wife Caroline are buried in a distant area. William, sister America, and Charlie McCoy are buried in a family cemetery on original McCoy land. Mary K Rice

Holloway Martin Private Resided in Alleghany County where he enlisted on May 3 1862,for the war.Reported present in Nov,1862 - April,1864. No futher records. his brothers WILLIAM AND HARDIN HOLLOWAY were also with him, Hardin was killed and William was wounded... William is where my family tree comes in hope this helps

    3. In reply to the person looking for Minnie Combs Myers. Have you looked over around Deheart. there were some Myers that lived in that section of the county and also a lot of Combs. there is also a nice web site for Combs on the web. I have heard that name just cannot place it. Check the churches along the Traphill Mountain view road. Find where they lived on the census closet to their death, that is most likely the community you will find the grave as most people where buried close to home in those days.
