Computer may have logged in under pay account rather than free account. I find it hard to belive that a Cherokee Chief would be on a census it what was no longer considered Cherokee lands in 1840. Furthermore the trail was prior to 1840.     3. Mr Standingbear, you have made some interesting points here. You know what? We ARE ignorant of a lot of the lives and customs of people who are not part of our families. I certainly don't know nearly as much about the ugly and despicable "Trail of Tears" as I should know, even though there are Cherokees (as well as Ottawas) in my family, and I'd bet that you don't know a whole lot about my Irish who were forced out of Ireland or my English who were forced to leave Yorkshire or my Germans who had to flee Germany.
