    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: sbittinger59 Surnames: white Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.northcarolina.counties.wilkes/7334/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I have been doing genealogy research for about 4 or 5 yrs. When I started I knew my dad and grandfathers names and that was it. I now have made it back from me 6 generations and this is where I am stuck. I did some googleing on names the other day and a Melungeon website came up with a census (1850) and a lot of my ancestors were on it. I also had my brother do a DNA test this past November to help me with my research. I was hoping to match someone who is also doing research. I am trying to connect with family. I know my dad had 4 uncles so there should be other relatives somewhere. My research ends where I began in VA/WV. Is there somewhere I can contact or somewhere I can compare my history? I don't have Ancestry.com or Genealogy.com so I can't go there. Please, I hope anyone can help me. I am eagerly awaiting an answer. I believe that mine is named James E (possible Edward as that name goes down thru the family). This James was called "Jim", his decendants were called "Ed" & such. James E was born about 1821 in Wilkes Co, according to his statement on his pension file. It has been suggested that he could be the son of Hannah Pilkington Lunsford & possibly Micajah Lunsford. There was an Elisha in Johnson Co & Carter TN in those early & mid 1800 census that could be part of that family too, but not proven. Enoch is definitely a son of Hannah. Just looking for that missing piece to prove Jame's parentage. He also is supposed to be a cousin to a Nancy Dornbush who married Edenton Mitchell. Does anybody have anything on the Dornbushes that lived in Wilkes & Ashe Co? There doesn't seem to be any there in census records. 3. Hello Frank, Sorry it's taken me so long to answer. We've had some health issues to deal with & will be for the next month or so. So, I've not been on line all that much here of late! From my end, I have no idea if any of my ancestor's were in the areas you mention. None of my lines were in Anson county in so far as I am aware. In all probability if your Edwards were in close proximity to my Edwards, they are probably connected. Just that I can't tell you through whom! I don't have my map of NC in front of me with the counties to say for sure! So, is conjecture on my part. Sorry, I couldn't help! Perhaps Katherine can be of help? Happy Hunting! He married (1) Jane Everett (1804-1826) and then Sarah Lockhart (abt 1810-1862). With Jane he had one child, William Everett Edwards (1826-1890) and with Sarah he had 8 children. Wonder if he is related to a Jonathan Smith who married a Candacea Penington? Would like to hear what you know about the NC Lunsfords. Also, interested to see if anyone knows anything about an Elisha Lunsford of Carter/Johnson Co, TN in the early to mid 1800s. Look forward to hearing from you all. Melissa.
