OOPs George Frankin McNiei died 04 May 1976 George Franklin McNeil, 71 Route 1, Ferguson, was fatally injured when a farm tractor rolled back and pinned him between a tree and one of the tires about 4:30 p.m. Tuesday 17 miles west of Wilkesboro. Mr. McNiel had been using the tractor in his garden behind the house. Deputy Sheriff Frank Earp said that Mr. McNiel had apparently gotton off the tractor to make an adjustment when the machine rolled back and pinned him. Coroner Eugene Wood said that Mr. McNiel died at the scene. Wilkes Rescue Squad responded and moved the tractor from him. Deputy Earp said he found one gear of the tractor in reverse and another in neutral. Mr. McNeil's farm is located on the Elk road between Mount Pleasant road and Elk Creek road. George Franklin McNiel was born in Wilkes County Jan. 12, 1905 son of Edgar H. and Annie Barlow McNiel. He was a farmer. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Parlee Triplett McNiel; eight daughters, Mrs. E. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Elk Baptist Church with the body placed in the church at 1:30. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Mrs. McNeil was born in Wilkes County May 29, 1909 to Mr. and Mrs. Luther Triplette. She was a member of the Darby Baptist Church. She is survived by six sons, Kenneth McNeil, Akron Ohio; Thomas and Ike McNiel both of Ferguson; Charles and Henry McNiel, both of Lenior; Andrew McNiel Dututh, Georgia. Eight daughters, Mrs. E. C.
