M. SUMMERLIN of the Rock Rest neighborhood died last night of peritonitis, having been sick since Wednesday. Mr. SUMMERLIN was deaf and dumb. He was a native of Wayne county, and while attending the deaf and dumb school at Raleigh about twenty years ago, met Miss Eva WILLIAMS, a daughter of the late J. C. WILLIAMS of this township, who was also a student there, and they were married. They came to this county to live, and three children were born to them, all of whom, with Mrs. SUMMERLIN, survive. The deceased was a good citizen, hard working, inoffensive and honest. He was a great reader of newspapers, and came almost weekly to the office to get a supply of papers in addition to the several that he subscribed for. The body was buried at Mr. W. E.
