Ran across this record that doesn't give the county but the Everett name is a Wayne name - if anyone has knowledge of these family members, please advise "An Act to legitimate James Smith, Milley Smith, Unice Smith, and for other purposes. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of North Carolina, and it is hereby enacted by the authority of the same, That James Smith, Milley Smith, and Unice Smith, illegitimate children of Love Smith, by John Everett, the reputed father, shall hereafter be called and known by the name of James Everett, Milley Everett and Unice Everett, and by these names only shall they be known, and in these names shall they sue and be sued, plead, and be pleaded. II. And be it further enacted by the authority aforesaid, That the said James Everett, Milley Everett, and Unice Everett, shall be entitled to all the rights, privileges and immunities as though they had been born in lawful wedlock, and as such shall be able to inherit and to transmit inheritances, to all intents and purposes as though they had been born in lawful wedlock as aforesaid; any law, usage or custom to the contrary, notwithstanding."
