Hello, Is there anyone out there researching or with knowledge of the MARTIN family from Wayne Co., NC? In particular, the family of Joseph Martin, b. abt. 1758 in France, d. 1835 in Wayne Co., NC. First wife unknown (possibly Charlotty Unk.), second wife Telitha Unk. His children were - at least: Listed in will: sons - Lewis, James, Council, Sylvester daughters - Clarkey (possibly a daughter-in-law), Telitha, and Silvia Not listed in will: son - Burwell, I believe Joseph to be my 5xgreatgrandfather. I am trying to find out which of his sons was the father of Benagy/Benajah/Benagee/Benagor who was born in 1820 Wayne Co., NC, d. 1893 in Hardeman Co., TN married Matilda Tulithy Wooten in Wayne Co., NC. They left NC in around 1843 for Tippah Co., MS, then on to Hardeman Co., TN, where they had 10 children. If you have any knowledge of this family, please contact me. This is a long time brick wall. Thanks, Lyn
Hi, I have a Lewis Martin born about 1802. The 1850 census of Wayne reflects: 1850 Census Sampson Co, NC North Division, No. 933 Martin, Lewis, 48, M, W, Farmer, 10 slaves Martin, Susan, 24, F, W Martin, Thomas, 4, M, W Martin, Lucy J., 2, F, W Martin, Ann 9/12, F, W Susan Martin was Susan Anne Pearsall born 5 Feb 1828. Apparently, Lewis Martin died 1853 as Susan Martin married David Dickson Carroll on 13 Sep 1853. Martin children were: Thomas L. Martin, b 17 Apr 1846 died 1856; Lucy Jane Martin born 17 Mar 1848 and Ann (Annie) Eliza Martin born 1 Aug 1849. Nothing further on Martin children. Do you think that Lewis Martin may be the son of your Joseph Martin?
