    1. (JOHN) CASWELL HOWELL 1820 NC - 1883 GA
    2. _Cpzb4@aol.com_ (mailto:Cpzb4@aol.com) Thanks for your reply here on my G-Grandfather, (JOHN) CASWELL HOWELL. <<Husband: John Caswell HOWELL ____________________________________ Born: 1820 at: NC Married: ABT 1840 at: GA Died: 1883 at: GA Father: Mother: Other Spouses: __________________________________ Wife: Perneice Arrena Womack MOORING >> That name of the wife as PERNEICE ARRENA WOMACK MOORING quite possibly in error - that appears to me to be a combination of info that Folks Huxford gave & was long given as the wife's name, (but on which I've never been able to find the source - not even at the Huxford Gen. Library in Homerville, GA!) & the name that a Bernie Dudek of NC helped me find several yrs ago now. Mr. Huxford gave the name of ARRENA WOMACK - but a few years ago, thanks to the help of Bernie Dudek of NC, we found the name of PERNEICE MORING given as the wife. I do know there is documentation of the marriage of the bro, BARNEY B. HOWELL to SMITHY ANN MORING in Thomas Co, GA - so the likelihood of my PERNEICE being a sister of SMITHY ANN could certainly be the case. The bride's name on Barney B. & Smithy Ann is all mixed up in an abstract of marriages of Thomas Co, GA - believe this was done by a Mr. Craigmiles but the name is SMITHY ANN MORING. I know several descendants of this line. Due to the ages of CASWELL's & PERNEICE's ch, they must've been mar well before they first appear in that 1850 Census, in Thomas Co, GA in the same household with a MARY ALLEN, age 68, b NC w/2 younger females, possibly daus, named NANCY, age 22 & ELISABETH, age 17. I have not yet found any known relationship between MARY ALLEN & the HOWELLs, but I've looked & looked. In the past, I looked for several years for a PERNEICE WOMMACK - talked to some very knowledgable WOMMACK researchers as they were compiling info for a book, & the only PERNEICE WOMMACK was one mar to another man. I don't know whether my aunt gave Huxford info that led to the thinking it was a WOMMACK or if Huxford gave my aunt that info. My aunt only lived down the road from Homerville, in Lakeland in Lanier Co, GA ( which used to be Milltown, Berrien Co, GA) - not more than a few miles between them. Haven't I also seen your emails on the Sampson/Duplin Co Lists also - (I also have CARROLLs that came from the above NC counties into Berrien Co, GA - TALLEY is another family line (& yes, my grandfather HAMPTON A. HOWELL was 1st mar to DOROTHY ANN TALLEY - after she died, he mar my grandmother, 2nd, LILLIAN EUGENIA (LAMB) who was the dau of JOHN CARROLL LAMB & wife, STATIRA ANN (LOVEJOY) LAMB - she later mar ROBERT S. HOLZENDORF some 7 or 8 yrs after the death of Maj. JOHN CARROLL LAMB, CSA near Jackson, MS during Civil War. LILLIAN EUGENIA (LAMB) HOWELL & DOROTHY ANN (TALLEY) HOWELL were cousins. Thank you again so much for your posting - as I'm sure you know, it helps to know others see info given & reply! Sarah Howell Studstill
