I am looking for information on the family of Andrew Scott who lived in Wayne and Bladen Counties NC. He was killed by a slave perhaps at the instigation of one of his sons. He apparently had two wives and two families. His first wife was Isabella and when she died he married Elizabeth Ritter. Their daughter Hannah, named for her grandmother Hannah Bradbury wife of Moses Ritter, married Redden Byrd of Sumter/Darlington Counties South Carolina. Elizabeth and her son/Stepson George Grant Scott moved to South Carolina about 1820 and by 1840 the family was in Autauga County Alabama. Has anyone found a complete record of the trial of the slave that killed Andrew or the Coroners inquest report? Is there a newspaper account of the murder and the investigation? Deborah Byrd
