Abstract of North Carolina Wills, 1690-1760, p. 202 indicates that James Oates was the Deputy Clerk of the Court for Johnston County shown on the disposition of the will of Walter Kenedy who died March 25, 1751 (June Court 1751) Wife and Executrix was "Sarah", son: John and daughter: Mary Kennedy. Witnesses were John Kennedy and Robt. Fellow. I believe that Sarah was Sarah Fellow who married the Deputy Clerk the following year.
