Mr. Holland attended The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and passed the state board receiving his degree in pharmacy. He retired in 1967, selling his drug store, however he has done relief pharmacy work since that time. Mr. Holland was a member of the North Carolina Pharmacy Association; the First United Methodist Church; a charter member of the Lions Club; member of Hamlet Masonic Lodge No. 532, A. F. & A. M.; a 32-degree Mason; member of the Scottish Rite; a Shriner and a member of the Oasis Temple at Charlotte. Funeral services were conducted today at 11 a. m. from First United Methodist Church with the Rev. T. M. Faggart officiating. Burial was in Richmond County Memorial Park. Members of the Richmond County Pharmaceutical Association and other pharmacist friends were honorary pallbearers. Surviving are his wife, the former Iris Bellamy; one daughter, Mrs. Roy (Diana Holland) Smith of Newark, Del.; one son, David Louis Holland of Greenville, four grandchildren; a half brother, Sidney Holland of Bessemer, Ala; and two half sisters, Mrs. Jane Holland Nunn of Smithfield and Mrs. Peggy Holland Gibson of Concord. The family requests memorials may be sent to the Shriners Cripple Children’s Hospital, Greenville, S. C. The arrangements were handled by Wilson-Harrington Funeral Home.
