I'm new to the list and here are my surnames/ancestors who lived in Wayne county... Becton (Charles and Hannah Sauls/Ruffin Becton); Sherrod (Cassie Exum and Jack Sherrod); Exum (Will and Easter Exum); Barnes (Ana Kaye/Anace Barnes); Vick (Tom and Easter Exum Vick); Best (Hannah Best); Pate (John and Sarah McCall Pate); McCall (Classie Greene McCall). All of my ancestors so far lived in Eastern North Carolina (Green, Wayne, Wilson, Nash, Craven counties) but who knows because I'm stuck on most of my lines and they could had come from other counties. By the way, I'm African American but would appreciate any info that you might have on the slaves which your ancestors owned if any of these names are mentioned.
