I am seeking information re Richard Martin who died in Wayne Co NC in 1786. Children of the first marriage were: 1) Lydia, b 1750, married to Jacob Flowers; 2) Mary, b 1753 married to ____ Pipkin; dec'd before her father wrote his will; 3) Aaron, b 1755, died 1795 in Wayne Co with a will; 4) Elizabeth, b 1760, married Nicholas Powell. The mother of these children is unknown; possibly her name was either Elizabeth or Sarah. Richard m2 Frances [Martin?] and they had 3 children: 1) Richard, Jr., b 1784; 2) Bitha, b 1785; and 3) Sarah "Sallie," b 1786 and married Samuel Flowers in 1806. The above 7 children were named in the will of Richard Martin, dated 1786 and probated in May 1786. Richard, Jr., received property under his father's will. Also, Richard, son of Aaron Martin, and gson of the foregoing Richard Martin, purchased property at the estate sale of his father, Aaron, all in Wayne County. I am seeking information re these last two Richard Martins. Have no lead on daughter Mary who married ___ Pipkin and can find nothing for daughter Bitha Martin other than her being mentioned in the will, and being placed under the guardianship of Samuel Harrill who was also guardian to sister Sarah. Their mother, Franky, sold to Samuel Harrill the 150 ac on which she was then living to Samuel Harrill in 1787 on condition he take her 3 children...Richard, Jr., Bitha, and Sarah "Sallie" and rear them. I have found the abstract of a will for one Samuel Harrell who died 1792 in Wayne Co with no mention of the Martin children or any compensation that might be due to them. I have also found the following: The Widow Martin was later the wife of William Jones; sale of her dower right to land to James Jones, Nov. 23, 1808. Was this Widow Martin, Frances/Franky, the widow of the foregoing Richard Martin? Any help in the reconstruction of this family will be very much appreciated....dates and places of birth and marriage of Richard Martin, his parentage, the same for Frances/Franky, his wife, and the follow up on any and all of his children. A big question here is DID THIS RICHARD MARTIN SERVE DURING THE REV. WAR OR DID HE NOT. Thanks for any and all help that I can get with this family. Margaret
