    3. I, too, am looking to Wayne county for some of my family. I am an ALFORD descendant and have been able to trace my family back only to Axum/Exum ALFORD b. abt 1788 Franklin Co but with son Henry Hardy ALFORD and wife Emily Milly POPE daughter of Enos POPE of Wayne Co., in Kenly, Johnston Co., as late as 1887. The following portions of the will of Lodowich ALFORD lead me to believe that my Axum/Exum ALFORD might possibly be a son of this Lodowich. Can anyone identify any of the persons mentioned in theses extracts or name any of the children of Lodowick and Polly? Any help will be greatly appreciated! "This 1st day of December One thousand eight hundred and thirteen I Lodowich Alford of the County of Wayne and State of North Carolina.... First I lend to my dearly beloved wife Polley Alford all of my smithwick lands.... I desire that what property that I have which is in Benjamin Alford's Sr's hands should be given to Elizabeth Bunting Daughter of the said Benja Alford's wife who was formerly Lucretia Edwards. ...swamp joining of Samuel Perkins and Wm Musgrove land should be so managed as not to injure me nor my heirs, but to be for the use of Nathan Pike and his heirs. At the same time I do appoint Mr. Nathan Pike and Mr. John Dunn of the county and state aforesaid joint execrs of this my last will and testament...." Thanks. -- ROB Robert G.
