I also have spent 30 years or more working on my family tree.. but anything of PUBLIC RECORD is NOT private info ... .I have seen my entire family datbase on other people 's site.. some with earlier errors on my part .. those still are circulating ..as "TRUTH".. do I get angry sometimes..Yes, but that is one way my family info is shared.. I finally took my personal info off FTW..and just hung my name and telephone number in there. I do still get the occasional phone calls from distant cousins and am happy to hear from and talk to them and share everything I have .. I just think of it as sharing the flowers in my yard ..I put in the work and my neighbors share the view of pretty flowers.. but I had the real fun of it.. I picked them out. planted them , I fertilize them and enjoy the sweat of my labors.. I get a great deal of satisfaction from all that effort otherwise I would not even bother . .I do genealogy out of the Love of the search ..
