Jesse Williams Whitman lived in the Faison area of Duplin County. Hulda Susan Whitman is buried in the Faison Cemetary. I know Jesse's grandson and have heard some of the story of Hulda Susan. My understanding is that at one time Jesse owned a good amount of land in the Faison area. Please excuse my previuos email; I didn't read the one about Wayne and Duplin missing first. Perhaps there are not any Bastardy Bonds for Sampson County in the book- but there are in individual county records. Several STRICKLANDs were listed as such by another STRICKLAND researcher a few years ago, which I beleive she obtained by court records searches. You might try contacting Sampson County and searching individual surnames for them. I am trying to find information on Jesse W illiams Whitman b. 26 Aug 1876 to Hulda Whitman most likely in Wayne or Duplin. I am sure he was illegitimate. Thanks, Bill

A Bastardy Bond could have occurred after the child was born. First bondsman is generally either the mother (when she does not give the name of the father) or the putative father. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/wUB.2ACE/764 Message Board Post: Researcher seeking information for new NC regimental history on the 20th NC Infantry. I am currently researching and writing my third book which will be a regimental history with complete roster of the 20th NC Infantry. I am nearing completion of the roster, but there is still time to add info. The regiment’s companies were formed in Brunswick, Columbus, Cabarrus, Duplin, Sampson, and surrounding counties (including Robeson, Wayne, and Johnston). I would like to include photos, military, biographical and genealogical data (including parent's names, soldier's pre-war and post-war occupation(s), marriage info, and burial location) for every soldier. Also of particular interest are newspaper articles, and letters and diaries from the soldiers. I will pay copy/postage costs for any new information and give credit in the book's acknowledgments section. Please note that I already have the information from each soldier’s CSR, Clark's NC Regiments and the NC Troops s! eries. Thanks for your help. Neil Raiford email: raiford94@bellsouth.net. I would like very much to get in contact with any Musgraves in Wayne County, NC, particularly those who are descended from Oswin Musgrave in Pennsylvania, or their relatives. I am also descended from him and my ancestors moved to Middle Tennessee (Bedford and Marshall Counties) from Wayne County in the early 1800s. My Joshua, son of Thomas Musgrave, was the one who made the journey. Best wishes, Bill Most sincerely, William R. (Bill) Massey of Lewisburg/Marshall County, Tennessee
