Found an interesting document online. The 1801 Petition of Milley and Howey Lane (infants) against the estate of Isham Lane, their father. It states Isham Lane the younger "only reputed to be the son of the said intestate, that he was not born in wedlock and was not legally intitled to any share of the property real or personal of his intestate." Children named "BRYAN LANE, MATHEW, JOHN, CULLEN, BETHANEY, SALLY, PENNY, ELIZABETH and your petitioners, MILLEY and HOWEY, his only legitimate children." Rae, One family that I have been looking at, closely, recently, is the ROGERS Family. Primarily because the link to the TARVERS and the TARVERS are all over my DANIEL Family in Burke and Jefferson County, GA, where the DANIEL family moved in 1812, according to the 1846 obit of Penelope Lane DANIEL, a published in the SCA - my bunch were big time Methodists. In fact, my GGF, Robert Williams DANIEL, ESq. ( 1809-1865) of Bethany, Jefferson County, GA married Mary Jane RENEAU, d/o Rev. Russell RENEAU, a PE in the GA Conference. RWD was named for his uncle, Robert WILLIAMS who had married his aunt, Sarah LANE. I do not think the city, Bethany, is by chance, either, because Bethany LANE was another aunt. She married an Isaac PARKER of Northampton County, North Carolina. John R. Clarke 229-228-1961 2417 N. Hi, We know the YELVERTONS and the LANES kind of ran together, first, to Bertie and the to Greene and Wayne County, NC. If Robert DANIEL, who married Penny LANE is any example, I would look at Middlesex or Albemarle County, VA for their former roots because this is where RD was from. John R. Seeking information on Samuel Lane born about 1800 possibly in Wayne County. He marr Rhody Tomlinson in 1830s probably in Wayne County since that is where she lived. By 1840 census the Samuel Lane family moved to Beaufort County where Samuel and Rhody died. Their children were named: William Riley Lane Mary A Lane John Lane Given Name patterns for grandchildren: George Riley Charles John Riley Oliver Joseph Rhody was daughter of Thomas Tomlinson and Mary "Polly" Rountree. This Tomlinson family lived in the area of Wayne County that became Wilson County. The property Rhody inherited in 1841 (from her father) was located on south side of Contentnea Creek near Daniels Chapel Church. Have searched Lane census entries and see there are many Lane families in Wayne County 1779 through 1841 time frame. There must be other researchers interested in the LANE surname.
