Cathy, I read that the state archives has marriage records since Jan. 1962 and that the county has them after 1868. I don't know if this means that the county has them from 1868 to 1962 or from 1868 to the present. I got this information from the Vital records site: http://vitalrec.com/nc.html Diana
Hi List, Am interested in knowing what time frames the Register of Deeds office in Wayne County hold marriages. Is there a certain time frame that they may have sent off marriages to be housed in the State Archives? If so, what are the years that are housed at the County and what are the years that are housed in the State Archives? An interactive migration database has been set up and resides on the state site at http://www.rootsquest.com/~ncwayne/qryindex.htm It's purpose is to track the movement of people into and out of North Carolina. Since it has just gone online it only has a small number of records to date but it looks to be a very useful tool. Check it out, and if you can submit your family data, that would be great. Diana

In a message dated 2/8/00 7:53:04 AM Eastern Standard Time, [email protected] writes: 1. Does anyone have an EMAIL address for NANCY M. SMITH who lives in Goldsboro? If anyone knows her, please give her my email address: [email protected] & tell Nancy that Sarah Studstill would like to get back in touch w/her...concerning LAMBs of New Hanover, NC. I lost contact w/her when we were no longer on FidoNet....& local BBS's. 2. I am looking for parents for my [JOHN] CASWELL HOWELL, b ca 1820, NC - info from now dec'd aunt said he was born in Wake Co, but some of the info she gave my Mom was incorrect, so I am trying to check both Wake & Wayne, as I know HOWELLs are numerous there (aren't they, tho? <g>) 3. Todd Anderson's offer is so very generous & certainly embodies the best characteristics of good genealogists! Reminds me of the days on the old *prodigy Gen board, also on the local BBS w/the different forums.....Thank you, Todd - for reminding us all of the many who extended a helping hand to each & all of us along our journey!!!! Thanks for any help... Sarah Howell Studstill
I do not have any specific information on the Lee or Ezzell/Uzzell surnames you speak of but do have some Lee's (married into Blackman or McKinnie family) and many Uzzell's in Wayne Co. but not a Nancy that late. My ancestor was Nancy Uzzell born in 1767 and died in 1838, married Stephen Lassiter in 1784. They lived near Spring Hill/LaGrange in Lenoir Co., near the Bear Creek and Walnut Creek area where Thomas Uzzell who died in 1772 lived. I think this Nancy was a daughter of this Thomas but can't find any records. Wayne Co. Heritage write up's on the family hint at proof but I haven't found it. Perhaps you'll have better luck in Wayne Co. as their records are there. This list is not dead, only sleeping...... Rose Parks -----Original Message----- From: Victoria L. Victoria, Have you checked all the cemetery listings on the Wayne GenWeb page? They start at http://www.rootsquest.com/~ncwayne/cemeteries.htm Even if you don't find your great-grandparents and grandparents, you'll know which cemeteries they are NOT in.
