    2. Christine, What they are requesting is for the most part standard procedure. However, they could look if they wanted to. I guess it all depends on the individual who receives your request. If you are surprised by your response, don't go to Wake County. The Freedom of Information Act does allow you certain rights. Many of the counties in N. C. allow you to come in and search their records. Wake County is not one of those counties. You might check to see if Lenoir County will allow public access to Birth and Death Certificates. Good Luck! Sylvia

    3. I received the following letter from Lenoir Cc. Register of Deeds.Has anyone else had this problem??If I knew all this info I would not need the death certificate!!!Lenior Co.is the only one I have had a problem with and this is the second time. The first time they said they did not have time to do genealogy. Ms.Fuller: In order to search our records for the death certificates you requested,we need some additional information. We must know the race of the deceased person since our early records are divided by race.We also must know at least one of the parents names of the deceased since it is very possible for more than one person to have the same name. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I have been sending for death and marriage certificates from Lenoir Co for at least 5 years!!Never had to have this info before. 1. [NCWAYNE] Pearsall Tragedy
    2. Seeking information about the parents of the W. W. Pearsall, identification of the spouse and names of the children indentified in the article below. Pearsall Tragedy - Goldsboro, NC, December 26 - Our city is stirred from centre to circumference and all the country round about for miles this afternoon over what seems to be one of the most horrible crimes in the anals of our State. On Tuesday night a retired country home on the banks of the Neuse river, about six miles from this city, in which dwelt William W. Pearsall, his wife and two small children, was destroyed. The burning was not discovered, however, until up in the forenoon of Wednesday, when it was found that Pearsall and his whole family were charred corpses in the smouldering ruins. At first it was thought that the horrible and sickening fatality was an accident, no one else living on the premises, but the coroner's investigation unearthed some strong circumstances pointing to one Weightman Thompson......as the perpetrator of the foul homicide......Thompson and Pearsall were boon companions and had been to Goldsboro together on Tuesday drinking some and left the city together in the same cart and it is known that Thompson went home with Pearsall that night. From the best evidence obtainable it is presumed that the burning was accomplished about 11 o'clock Tuesday night and at about 1 o'clock Thompson put in an appearance atone of the lower bar rooms of the city. When he was arrested today he was found to have hid in the woods a valise and a suit of clothes that Pearsall had purchased in one of the stores in this city Tuesday. Thompson claims to have bought the clothes in another town but they bore the trademark and were identified by the clerk of the store that sold them to Pearsall on Tuesday. Thompson was ordered to jail and indignation against him is runing high. Source: Wilmington Messenger, December 27, 1891.

    3. Each county in N. C. published a book some 20/30 years ago about families in their county. It was strictly voluntary on submissions. These books are available through each county library and through the State Genealogy Library in Raleigh, N. C. In addition, N. C. has a great state library with tremendous resources. You would do well to come for a visit. Good luck. ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Wednesday, April 04, 2001 10:33 AM Subject: [NCWAYNE] Surnames: BROCK & LOFTIN & PURYEAR > > ANY information about the early history of Duplin / Mt Olive would be > appreciated. Price Date: Fri, 16 Mar 2001 15:36:40 -0500 From: Abigail Linville <[email protected]> To: "'[email protected]'" <[email protected]> I work for Old Salem, Inc. and the Museum of Early Southern Decoratve Arts in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Currently, I am researching an object in our collection with the initials "G. PRICE." I need to find out if there was a G. Price working in Wayne County in the 1800's. I completed a web search that listed a G.W. Price living in Wayne Co., NC in 1836, but I need to verify this information. If you have any information on the above mentioned names your help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you! Abigail S.
