    1. [NCWAYNE] Joshua, John, and Lewis Howell
    2. Wynell Simpson
    3. Searching for proof of the father of John Howell. John Howell was born 1753 in Wayne Co., NC (Dobbs). "My" John Howell b. 1753 had a son named Lewis Howell. John Howell was still living in Wayne Co., NC on the 1840 census. He was a Revolutionary Soldier. Lewis Howell, John's son, moved to Alabama after 1810 and was in Dallas Co., AL by 1820. Joshua Howell died 1799 in Wayne County. He had a son named John. He had a grandson named Lewis. Joshua Howell gave considerable land to his grandson Lewis when he died. He also left Lewis in charge of Joshua's son Jasper. It is not clear what was wrong with Jasper and why he was not responsible for himself. If "my" Lewis Howell is the grandson of Joshua Howell, why did he leave North Carolina when he had been given so much. I wonder if anyone else claims the John Howell who was the son of Joshua Howell. There were several Johns and several Lewises in the area at the same time. Thanks, Wynell

    3. Not much in the way of marriages has been donated, unfortunately. I can only list what people are willing to donate. My best recommendation is the N.C. Births, Marriages, and Deaths Database located at http://bmdproject.rootsweb.com/ While you are there, please consider making some contributions of your own to the database. Free, online genealogy is only as good as you are willing to make it with your contributions. Diana

    1. [NCWAYNE] Bundys in early Wayne Co
    2. Joanne Harley
    3. Is anyone working on a Bundy family that was in Wayne Co. around 1790-1830?? I have what may be two Bundy brothers, William born 1791, and John Bundy. According to a Bundy book, the father may have been Thomas Bundy, but... I found a William Bundy on the 1790 census, who could have been the father of these two boys. In the 1800 census of Wayne Co., I find a William and a Mark Bundy. This may be the same William that I found on the 1790 census. . Then we find a William Bundy, born 1791, married Axey Fletcher in 1812. Axey and her family were members of the Contentnea MM of Friends (Quakers) which was 15 miles north of Goldsboro,NC and she was disowned for marrying out of unity. The Bundys had been Quakers for generations in the Albemarle area of NC, but this group must have left the church about this time. The other brother, John Bundy is my ancester, and his wife was a young lady named Susan A. or Susanna. In their household in Marlboro Co. in 1840 & 1850 is a very elderly lady named Sara Graham, who was listed as being 107 yrs. old in 1850 1818 finds William Bundy, born 1791, on the tax rolls of Marlboro Co., SC. with John Bundy on the census in Richmond in 1820, which is just over the county line with Marlboro. Both were later in Marlboro. Any help with this line would be very appreciated. Joanne Harley NC
