    2. [email protected] in Waco, Texas is on the list. I am researching Washington P. Ivy, born March 1, 1819 in Wayne County, N.C., died January 1, 1881 in Fayette County, Texas. Would love to determine who his parents were. In the 1840 Census, he is still in Wayne County. By 1850, he is in Chickasaw County, Mississippi. By the mid 1850's he had made his way to Texas. Montea

    3. I have enjoyed reading the history of Wayne County again and reviewing some of the items that I may have missed. You and your helpers have done an excellent job in putting this information out for those of us who are searching for our roots in Wayne County. Thank you sharing this with us. As a descendant of the Pikes and Colyers of Wayne County, I would like to correct a mistake on one of the articles listed under the Bicentennial Series and taken from the Goldsboro New-Argus. The mistake is as follows: "The King of England gave Samuel & Anne Pike a grant of between 2,500 & 3,000 acres in 1763 which contained what is now Pikeville." Samuel Pike did not come to Wayne County until much later. He had three wives, his third was Ann Dulcely and he did not marry her until after 1774 in Rich Square MM, NC. He bought land in Northampton County in 1772 as shown below. The information below, most of it was taken from Hinshaw's Quaker records. Descendants of Samuel (Jr.) Pike Generation No. 1 1. Soon the census from 1790 to 1850 for Wayne will be online along with the present indexes. They have the microfilm of lots of the census'. Kinda new area to explore for me. The files are copies of the original pages. Inquired about the costs to get 1860 through 1920 done. Lots more pages, double in 1920, kinda pricey. Was wondering how many people may be willing to contribute to get this project done ? Here is a link to their website regarding the costs: http://www.skcensus.com/census/nc/wayne.html Would you mind running this topic on the Wayne Message Board ? See if there are any interests. We're talking $1,720 dollars here. I would be glad to act as a treasurer. Let's see if there is any interest, thanks for your help with this. How could I send messages to the board ? Never have quited understood that part. Guy Potts

    3. Thanks for the reply. My Davis- Exum connection would have been before 1869 when my grandfather was born. He and one of his sisters both had Exum as a middle name and they lived on "the Exum farm" near Eureka. Forty five years ago, there were some cousins with surname Exum but I can't find any now. There are Davises buried on the Exum farm but I have been unable to get permission so far to go searching for it. I believe that would give some hints. One of them, William Bundy, married Axey Fletcher, who was a member of the Contentnea MM, and the other brother John Bundy married a woman named Susan A., which might be for Albert. Is anyone working on the Albert family? Many years later , Susan A. Bundy had a lady named Sarah Graham living in her house at the ripe ole age of 107 in 1850. Is anyone working on the Graham family? She may also be from this area. They were Quakers before 1800, and became Methodist later. Joanne H. NC [email protected]
