My ancestor Jesse Calton Coffey was the one married to Nancy Raines. She was from Cocke Co. Tn. My grandmother Rachel Lorinda or Rendy as she was called, was their daughter, who married Jordan Hampton. My father was number 15 of Rendy and Jordan's children. Rendy had a sister, Liza Jane who married Anson Harrison and they had 15 children and I think there was a brother who had 15 children. I remember hearing said that the three of them could fill a school house of children. Yes, I have most of Jesse and Nancy's children and grandchildren .maybe a few are missing .Jane had a daughter Bessie who married a Greer, then a Walker but Bessie lived to be over a 100 year old. I also lived in the area where they lived use to pick blackberries on the old Harrison place which the Blue Ridge Parkway owns now I knew some of the ones out of Roe's family.I know some from James and Mary's family and R ed Eye Jesse Coffey married Lou , Rachel's sister.Jesse and Lou's daughter Sarah married James Gragg he died she married his brother Joshua who are from my dads side of the family. Not too many in Watauga not kin to a Coffey I also knew Jerry Hampton who married Edna I'm thinking Moody but both are gone now there was big families on both sides.
