    3. Be careful climbing that Charlemagne family tree. A huge explosion of mathematics ensues when one peers that far up the tree. Yes, he may be in your line. But just about everybody in Europe in the Middle Ages is also in your line, and it is an humbling matter. You are also descended from the nasty agitator Charlemange had hanged for politically questioning the emperor, and speaking ill of the empress's flouncing gown and the little fart-catcher who carried the trailing end of her gown. You are descended from Jack Ketch, the hangman of grim visage who did the easy work of swinging high that agitator who had so irked the high and mighty, as well as the sneaky pickpocket who picked the pockets of the spectators who then enjoyed the common outdoor sport of hanging, and among your grandmothers is the harlot who comforted the pickpocket, gave him beer, cabbage soup, and more. I congratulate all of us for having Charlemange, Roland, and King Arthur way up in our tree, but I also worry that some of our forbears may be manning the gates of Hell. What should we do? Perhaps be baptized in their stead, as the Mormons do? Up that tree is indisputable evidence that George W. Bush and Hillary Clinton are cousins, and the degree of cousin can be measured. If you figure it out and inform the press, a hell of an uproar will ensue, and we may be in Iraq for a thousand years. So I beg you, go easy on Charlemagne. Joe Wilson from Trade, TN, but now out on parole in VA. Related to many in Watauga, Ashe, and Johnson counties.
