The Globe Academy was founded by 2 brothers, Blan and Dough Daugherty. It was a preparatory school including cottages and was open to the public in 1882. The academy preped students for the first year of college. The first professors were RL Paton, JF Spainhour, WF Marshall, BB Daugherty and BBD Daugherty.
