    1. [NCWATAUG] Watsons -- NC

    3. I really need a little nudge in the right direction on my husband's Watsons. I live in GA and only get up to the Caldwell, Watauga area about twice a year and usually do not have enough time to get much research done. My mother-in-law's maiden name is Nealia Lodenia Watson and her father was Calvin Finley Watson (2 Aug 1889 Wilkes Co, NC - 15 June 1941 Caldwell Co, NC) and the problem with this side of her family is that Fin's mother was named Sophrona Watson (9 Aug 1872 - 12 April 1933), but I do not know if Watson is a married or maiden name. She had 6 children and Fin is the only one that has a father's name (John J. Watson) listed iin the death index. In the 1900 and 1910 census, Sophrona is listed with just the children, even though three of her children were born after 1900. In the Caldwell County, NC death index, Sophrona's parents are listed as Robert Keller and Lottie Bishop. I know that Sophrona had a younger brother named Will Watson and he died 26 Apr 1950, I think in VA. There is a Lottie (or Charlotte) Watson in the 1880 census and in the same household is a Sophrona and Will, and I think that they are all living in the household of Willis Watson, an uncle that did not have children, or so I was told. There was also a Melvina May in the same household, in a later census she is listed with Lottie or Charlotte but is listed as Viney or spelled something close. Then in one of the censuses Melvina has married a Horton and had a couple of children but the husband is not listed. Need help with this puzzle!!!! Also, Nealia Lodenia Watson's mother was a Watson, America Maybelle Watson, daughter of Acquilla Arnold Watson and Cornelia Emmaline Younce. It really gets confusing when the Watsons marry Watsons!!!! The descendants of Saphrona Watson have a reunion the 2nd weekend in Sept and I am trying to work on this as much as I can before then. I have a good bit of information and would be glad to exchange. Looking forward to hearing from someone! Thank you, Jan
