    1. [NCWATAUG] Memorial for Early Settlers
    2. I recently received the below Notice and thought that persons researching Reuben Hartley and his wife, Joanna Green Hartley, might be interested in its contents. Please do not contact me further regarding this matter because I know nothing further than what is contained in the notice. I cannot answer any questions regarding prior or scheduled events. June Millwood Memorial Service for Early Settlers Preparation for the construction of Watauga County's new high school on land recently purchased for that purpose prompted the exhumation of graves located in a cemetery established by Reuben Hartley in his will, which was written in 1857, the year of his death. The remains of the thirty-nine bodies, carefully exhumed from the site by Austin and Barnes Funeral Home and some of Reuben Hartley descendants, have since been interred at Mount Lawn Memorial Park and Gardens in Boone, N. C. A Memorial Service honoring Reuben Hartley, his wife Joanna Green Hartley, and their descendants will be held at 2:00 p.m on Saturday September 22, 2007 at Mount Lawn Memorial Gardens, Boone, N. C. Prior to the service, family and friends will meet at 11:00 a.m. for a buffet in the Broyhill Center's dinning room on the ASU Campus. Reservations may be made by calling the restaurant at area code 828 262-2204. The group will then gather at Mount Lawn for a visitation period from 1:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. before the service. Everyone is cordially invited. ************************************** Get a sneak peek of the all-new AOL at http://discover.aol.com/memed/aolcom30tour
