Greetings folks! I hope this finds everyone well. In doing some research, I came across a reference to the National Youth Administration in Watauga County in 1941 in the Sugar Grove area. I have not consulted with old copies of the Watauga Democrat yet, but I was wondering if anyone on this list had parents or grandparents in this organization, and what they did in Watauga County. I was not familiar with the NYA, so I looked it up and found the following: "...the National Youth Administration (NYA). This program helped those who were between the ages of 16 and 25 who, because they wanted to continue with their education, were given part-time jobs. More than 700,000 students enrolled in this program. The high levels of unemployment meant that part-time jobs were not easy to find and most of the schemes were based in the cities and large towns.
