Colonel Thomas Edmunds 1748-1826 married to Sarah Eldridge 1754-1836 Sarah was the daughter of Thomas Eldridge II 1713-1754 and Elizabeth Jones. Thomas Eldridge II was first married to Martha Bolling 1713. Sarah was then half sister to Thomas Eldridge III 1738 and Mary Polly b 1740-1745. Thomas III married Winifred Jones Miller in 1768. Winifred Jones Miller b 1743 was the daughter of a William Miller b 1710 of Lancaster County, Va,. and Mary Heath. Could William Miller 1735 be related to her ????? Husband of Mary Polly Eldridge ??? He was the bro. in law of Thomas Eldridge III and son in law of Thomas II . >From Steve Guthrie's work, (See his site) http://worldconnect.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=:1736779&id=I81284174 "Capt. James W. Bradley commanded a company of VA. Artillery under Col. Edmunds, April 1 to June 1 1780. Capt. James W. Bradley, Lt. John Scott, Lt. Cary Wiatt, William Roane, Source: [Virginia Rev. War Pay Rolls, p. 304].In the muster roll of General Martin in an expedition against the Cherokee Indians Sept. 1788: John Miller, Moses Webb, and John Hardin listed as Captains. Deeds of Sullivan Co., TN.; Roll 31, Book N2, p. 758, #599, p.324. Deed #570, p. 222." DEM note- Col Edmunds would be the same Col. Thomas Edmunds married to Sarah Eldridge. Moses Webb and John Hardin have been well documented but its John Miller that interests me. Steve Guthrie goes on to say "The following information about John Miller, Sr of Sullivan County,Tennessee is taken from the book, "Rifle Balls, Horseshoes, Wagon Wheels, and A Bible: The Story of John & Thomas Miller, Their Descendents and Alliances, Part 1" by Ethelyn Barnes Mitchell of Sherman, Texas. Page 51: "The only family record we have found giving any indication of his [John]origin is found in a small note written by a descendent of Elisha Emory Miller, a grandson of John Miller. It states simply "JOHN MILLER -ENGLAND". We are left to ponder if he was born in England or was he a descendent of Millers who came to America from England as those thousands of immigrants poured out of English ports. It is probable that he was born about 1740 to 1750." DEM QUESTON? Does this sound like William and his immigration? Could John and William be brothers? Any thoughts anyone? Oh yes, I still have more thought twisters like this, all related to William and Mary Eldridge.
