WHERE IS THE COPY RIGHT SEAL/DATE?
On what? The 100th anniversary book? I don't have it in front of me, but even without looking I would assume it was printed in 1949. That was the 100th anniversary of Watauga county. Even if it doesn't have the wood copyright, or the circle c, there is automatic copyright on anything that is printed. It doesn't have to be a registered copyright to be copyrighted. For example, the JPR History of Watauga did not have a name index when it was first printed. But the new one from Over Mountain Press in Johnson City, TN has the index. That index is copyrighted. I haven't taken the time to index it myself because it is searchable as I have it online and it just didn't seem worth the trouble.
