    1. Thank ALL of you!

    3. Hello, to all of you. I want to thank all of you for your help. I did go to the 1850 Watauga census, and I'll check out all of the Tripletts on it. Most of the first names are unfamiliar to me, but I'll check anyway. It seems like I know about a town with the name Triplett, but I'm wondering if it was named for the Thomas Triplett who married Mary McGee. I've tried to figure out where he came from, but I haven't had any luck. I haven't found a connection with the Tripletts from Burke co. with the ones from Wilks co. I went to the Wade Eller site, last night and he has "Tripplett" surname on his index list. I'll check out the Elizabeth Triplett b.1799-1878 who married Livingston Carlton. Thanks, Roy for that clue. I have to tell all of you, now, that I realize that all of the Tripletts, Triplets, Tripplets, Trippletts, and various other spellings are related some how, one way or another, but it has been rather difficult for me to untangle the lines. When I was about 8yrs old, I remember thinking that I had the strangest last name, and that there could only be my family (remember my age) but WOW, was I wrong!!!!! Thank you again, and if any of you have any thing else that you think may help, I'd be more then glad to hear it. Take care, Dorothy

    3. You are right, there is a community by the name of Triplett. I don't know the history of that area, but there may be hints in the first sections of the Watauga County heritage books. I know several communities are mentioned in one way or another. I just don't have time at the moment to check that out. I do know that when I got my Volumes, I sat down and actually read them from front to back. I drove from upstate SC on my 50th birthday to pick them up there in Boone. I had just discovered them a few weeks prior, and I still think they are the best present I've even had!
