Brad: Here is the information that I have on Alexander Fox. Born ca.1847 in Ashe (Watauga) County. He is living in 1860 in the Valle Crucis Township, family group 31. Also in that household are Matilda, age 38 (his mother?) and Columbus, age 4. Alexander was a farmer prior to enlisting in Caldwell County, North Carolina, on July 7, 1862. He was mustered in as a private in Company E, 58th North Carolina Troops. There are no further records from the National Archives. I also checked the 1870 census. In the Watauga township, family group 14, it shows a Matilda Fox (Age 43), with Columbus (age 16) and Martha E. (Age 6). I would be interested in the date of birth, death, and place of burial for Alexander Fox if you even come across it. Regards, Michael C.
