Information I found recently posted on a genealogy webpage John Lafayette Adams 1804-1909, son of Squire and Mary Greene Adams, m. Sarah Hartley, dau. of John Young and Mary Amos Farthing, on 8/15/1850. Supposedly they had a daughter named Lucinda b. 1857 In the census transcripts between 1860 and 1880, I have John listed with a wife named Elvira in all 3 census records, with two daughters named Lucinda. Jane Lucinda b. bet. 1850-1851 and Lucinda b. 1857 Could it be that John married Sarah Farthing and she died after giving birth to Jane Lucinda, in which case John Adams married Elvira? Or could it be that Sarah's middle name was Elvira? Tom
