A new chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution is being formed in Carter County, Tennessee, which will also be open to those interested from Watauga,Ashe, Avery Counties in North Carolina. FORT WATAUGA New TNSSAR Chapter Study In keeping with new Chapter extensions by TNSSAR, Todd Williams, President of the General Joseph Martin Chapter has found interest in an SAR Chapter in Carter County, Watauga Area, and Johnson County in upper East Tennessee. Todd has kin in Carter County, and I have the same in the Boone area of North Carolina. Some of this kin is already members of the General Martin Chapter. There is no SAR Chapter in Boone, NC, but a very strong DAR Chapter; the Daniel Boone NCDAR Chapter. Todd Williams, as President of the extending Chapter, will serve as Chairman of the Extension Study Committee. Jim Moore, East TNSSAR Vice President has agreed to serve on the Committee. Fort Watauga has played a major roll in the history of the NC/TN Area. The Watauga Agreement was signed before the Declaration of Independence. We feel that there is just too much potential for SAR members in this are not to at least explore the possibility of forming a new Chapter. We will stay with the minimum 25 "new" members as the Lt. Andrew Crockett and Gen. Joseph Martin extensions did. Meetings will be planned in the coming months. Robin Taylor
